Reading comprehension
A2: reading very short and simple texts and find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, menus and timetables; understanding short and simple personal letters.
B1: understanding texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language. Understanding the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letters.
B2: reading articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt particular attitudes or viewpoints. Understanding contemporary literary prose.
Listening comprehension
A2: understanding phrases and the most common words related to family, shopping, local geography; understanding the main elements in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.
B1: understanding the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Understanding the main point of many radio or TV programmes on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear.
B2: understanding extended speech and lectures and follow even complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar. Understanding most TV news and current affairs programmes. Understanding the majority of films in standard dialect.

Programma
Reading and listening activities will be carried out on the following topics:

A2: most common regular and irregular verbs (present indicative, future simple, present perfect, imperfect; imperative; present conditional of modal verbs and of the most common verbs in everyday expressions; present continuous), qualifying, demonstrative, possessive, comparative and superlative adjectives; linkers, prepositions (simple and with the article), adverbs, pronouns.
B1: most common regular and irregular verbs (all indicative tenses, present conditional and subjunctive, gerund), pronouns (direct, indirect, relative, combined), prepositions (simple and with the article), phrasal verbs, linkers, regular and irregular comparative and superlative adjectives, ci and ne pronouns.
B2: verb conjugation (revision of indicative tenses; past simple; passive form; all subjunctive tenses), indirect interrogative sentences, reported speech, conditional clauses (reality, possibility, unreality), linkers, idioms, discourse markers.

Attendance: compulsory

Important: Erasmus+ incoming students must contact the University Language Centre without delay through Informastudenti, 'Language Test' category.
Prerequisiti
A2: Students who attained a level lower than A2 at the entry-level test will have to attend the course.
B1: Students who attained a level lower than B1 at the entry-level test will have to attend the course.
B2: Students who attained a level lower than B2 at the entry-level test will have to attend the course.
Metodi didattici
The course consists of 60 hours of in-person learning.

Modalità di verifica dell’apprendimento e criteri di valutazione
To be admitted to the end-of-course test, students must have attended at least 75% of classes.

The assessment test is computer-based. Students will have to sit the test about one week after the end of the course. It consists of three parts:

1. Listening comprehension: 2 exercises
2. Reading comprehension: 2 texts
3. Language: 5 exercises on verb conjugation, prepositions, pronouns, vocabulary.


Students who do not pass the test will have the opportunity to sit the test one more time at the end of the next semester.

Students with disabilities or with specific learning disabilities (SLDs) must contact the SLAM Centre through Informastudenti, 'Language Test' category, to receive special arrangements (Students with disabilities: 50% more extra time; Students with SLDs: 30% more extra time).
