Chemistry, Biochemistry and Applied Biochemistry 1st Year
A.Y. 2018/2019
Learning objectives
Chemistry, Propaedeutic Biochemistry and Applied Biochemistry is an integrated course divided into three modules that takes place in the first year (1st and 2nd semesters) and in the 1st semester of the second year.
The first module is Chemistry and Propaedeutic Biochemistry (1st semester) and concentrates on the fundamental aspects of general chemistry to provide the chemical basis for understanding the biochemical processes at cellular, organ and organism level.
General Biochemistry module (Biochemistry 1) takes place in the 2nd semester of the first year and focuses on the basic aspects of structure, properties and function of cellular macromolecules (proteins, lipids and carbohydrates) and main metabolic pathways related to living functions and health.
