Learning objectives
The course aims at providing students with adequate
knowledge about: a) the different approaches in crop
protection, focusing on the chemical control and related
environmental issues; b) basic elements of integrated
crop protection from diseases.

Course syllabus
Presentation of the course and educational aims. Regulations on the registration, labelling, commercialization and usage of plant protection products and microbial antagonists. Functional and chemical classification of fungicides, and their mode of action and formulation. Translocation of agrochemicals in plant tissues and organs. Methods for evaluating in vitro, in planta and in the field the biological activity of fungicides. Resistance to fungicides: genetic and biochemical bases, prevention. Fungicide residues in food.Biological control. Natural products and inducers of resistance (SAR). Decision Supporting Systems: forecasting models.
