Learning objectives
The course focuses on the reading and analysis of specialised texts with the objective of developing critical reading abilities for students and to make them reach a B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Furthermore, the course offers practical phonetic concepts, phonology and morphosyntax notions, as well as some elements on lexical structure.
Expected learning outcomes
The course therefore aims at providing students with techniques and tools which help the comprehension of different types of text and it also leads them to consolidate elementary vocabulary related to the contemporary French reality within the political, economic and social field.

The program includes 3 units:
unit 1: phonetics, morphology, base lexicon and written comprehension
unit 2: economic geography test analysis; French political history and present life
unit 3: color symbology analysis of colors in the French culture
Prerequisites for admission

Teaching methods
Exercices ( 1st and 2nd semester)
Target, to get the basic knowledge enough to interact in common life and business environment
It makes part of exercices the lessons at Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris Ile de France (CCI) which allow the student to enrole to International certifications
Students having participated to exercise classes who have got a positive score in the 3 intermediate tests, will be exempted from the written trial
Linguistic laboratory is scheduled for beginner students.

Assessment methods and Criteria
a) the written test (40% of final score) includes:
-speech comprehension
-lexical test
-grammatic test

b) oral test (obbligatory, 60% of final score); to be performed in French language on described program
