Learning objectives
The course introduces students to the fundamentals and applications of GIS including dealing with and integrating non-spatial and spatial data; spatial precision and geographic scale; visualization; thematic mapping; as well as comprehending spatial associations between variables. Students are going to apply their new abilities to case studies on geo-resources use and management and natural hazard through a combination of lectures and practical exercises.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will develop new abilities on: a) working with different techniques used to analyze, and adjust geographic data; b) Integrate information from different geographic scales as well as spatial precision; c) Visualize spatial data; d) Investigate spatial patterns of geo-resources distribution and natural resources related hazard, e) Produce thematic maps and reports.
