Teaching language for the modules of "German Linguistics": German.
Teaching language for the " Language practice sessions ": German.
UNIT 1 - BUSINESS GERMAN
The module is aimed at comparing textual typologies and learning the specific syntax and terminology of the German business language (key terms, typical locations, etc.), supported by an adequate structural reflection of the language, also using corpus linguistics. The module is based on listening, reading and analysing business texts of various types, also relating to tourism, taken from internet sites and platforms dedicated to business German. The texts are analysed and discussed both in plenary form and in the form of works carried out in pairs or in small groups.
UNIT 2 - METAPHORS
Metaphors in texts and discourses: from theory to practice
Metaphors shape our language and our thinking. They are so pervasive that we don't even perceive them anymore (e.g. "Maus"). In this module we deal first of all with the concept of "metaphor" in the different theoretical approaches. In the second part we will carry out, on the basis of authentic texts, concrete analyses. The goal is to understand the great variety of forms and functions of metaphors in texts, even for specialist use.
UNIT 3 - LEGAL GERMAN
The module is aimed at comparing textual typologies and learning the specific syntax and terminology of the legal language, supported by an adequate structural reflection of the language. The module is based on listening and reading various types of legal texts, taken both from the recommended textbooks and from www.dw-world
. de, www.iza.org
. The texts are analysed and discussed, both in plenary form and in the form of works carried out in pairs or in small groups.
"LANGUAGE PRACTICE SESSIONS"
The exercises are aimed at written production and conversation.
