Learning objectives
The teaching workshop shows the students the main characteristic features of textual criticism applied to manuscript traditions of vernacular texts. This helps the students to engage in their first attempt to produce a critical edition.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will learn to locate in the history of textual criticism the main methodological innovations due to the features of manuscript traditions of vernacular texts. They will also learn how to face the different steps that lead to the preparation of a critical edition.

Students will learn to locate in the history of textual criticism the main methodological innovations due to the features of manuscript traditions of vernacular texts. They will also learn how to face the different steps that lead to the preparation of a critical edition.
Prerequisites for admission
No prerequisites for admission. Nevertheless, basic notions about textual criticism will be appreciated.
Teaching methods
The students will be required to discuss the subjects treated in class; furthermore, they have to take part at classroom activities that may also include the use of materials prepared by the students.
Teaching Resources
Teaching materials will be distributed in class and uploaded on the teacher's Ariel website.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The constant participation to the activities and the results of the assigned works will be verified.
