Learning objectives
Two main topics are studied in this course.
The first is concerned with governance instruments, investment decisions. This involves to set up a business plan, performance and balance sheet analysis. We adopt both a theoretical approach and an empirical one with case studies. We will develop the ability to use the main database as Orbis-Bireau VanDijk and Thomson Reuter-Eikon)
The second concerns the study of financial instruments and market for corporates, with a focus on start-up and PMI and on innovative finance.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge of governance models, ability to choose investments and their management and the appropriate financial sources. Problem solving approach. Ability to use economic-financial databases.

- Data extraction from economic and financial databases
- Discussion of business cases
- The life cycle of companies and sources of funding
- Financial intermediaries and innovative forms of financing: venture capital, private debt funds; private equity funds, special purpose vehicle companies, collective trust guarantee systems, regional financial
- Market finance: alternative capital markets, bond and mini-bond markets, equity crowdfunding
- Industrial policy tools.

Interactive teaching.
Intermediate self-assessment tests.
