Learning objectives
Know the therapeutic procedures for administering drugs and monitoring related parameters of relevance.
Acquire the knowledge and methods for managing nursing care, from data collection to the assessment of evidence-based actions and results, to the person who presents biophysiological, pathophysiological, psychological and socio-cultural signs and manifestations related to the diseases of greatest incidence and prevalence on the territory, according to the national health plan of surgical interest.
Know the diagnostic procedures for the preparation of the patient, the management and monitoring of related parameters of relevance.
Recognize and alleviate the suffering of the person affected by pain from different physical, psychological and socio-cultural points of view in order to improve the quality of life.
Acquire the knowledge and methods for managing nursing care, from data collection to the evaluation of evidence-based actions and results, to the person who presents manifestations and biophysiological, pathophysiological, psychological and socio-cultural signs related to the disease states of greatest incidence and prevalence on the territory according to the national health plan: tumor, cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, infectious, respiratory, metabolic, osteomuscular diseases.
Know the methods for the management of nursing care, from data collection to the evaluation of actions and results, to the elderly person who presents manifestations and signs biophysiological, pathophysiological, psychological and socio-cultural related to states of chronic degenerative disease and other disabling conditions with greater incidence and prevalence on the territory, according to the national health plan of medical interest.
Recognize and maintain the welfare conditions of safety of inpatients in order to prevent accidental events also through the application of risk assessment scales.
Develop manual skills to apply the methods of use of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, according to planned interventions and actions and based on standards and scientific evidence (Professional Laboratory 2).
Apply data collection methods for the identification of nursing needs related to acute and chronic illnesses of medical or surgical relevance and for the planning of nursing care, documenting it according to the theoretical model of reference and evaluating actions and expected results (Professional Laboratory 2).
Perform calculations for the dosing, dilution and administration of active ingredients of drugs and blood products (Professional Laboratory 2).
Apply instruments to assess the clinical condition of the patient (e.g. pain) (Professional Laboratory 2).
Expected learning outcomes
The student will define and describe the therapeutic procedures for the management of drug therapy. The student will identify nursing care's needs and describe the significant interventions for the person, related to the state of illness and chronicity, in the medical field. The student will identify nursing care's needs and describe the significant interventions for the person, related to the state of illness and chronicity, in the surgical field. The student will identify nursing care's needs and describe significant interventions for the elderly person. The student will describe the methods to evaluate pain and to management it using evidence based interventions. The student will describe nursing care for the person undergoing diagnostic procedures. The student will describe the stages of the therapy delivery process and the monitoring of adverse events. The student will calculate dosage and dilution of the drugs.

Assessment methods and criteria
The exams will be carried out in-class and/or remotely . Oral exams will be carried out remotely using the Microsoft Teams platform or other online platforms provided by the University. The distance written exams will be carried out using the Exam.net platform or other platforms provided by the University according to the modalities illustrated on the web site http://www. unimi.it
Prerequisites for admission
Having passed the exams of Anatomy and Human Physiology, General Nursing Sciences, Clinical Nursing Sciences 1 and Internship 1.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The written test includes closed and / or open-ended questions, in addition, if the subject requires it, the candidate is also assessed with respect to the calculation tests related to the teaching.
The written test DOES NOT produce a mark, but only serves as a preliminary test to the oral examination.
The oral exam includes questions the assessment of which relates to the following parameters: content, logic, language properties.
The marks at the end of the oral examination will be expressed in thirthyts.

Nursing issues in the person undergoing surgery: assessment and evidence-based interventions in the perioperative period:
Prevention of health care associated infections (urinary tract, surgical wounds, respiratory tract)
Prevention of deep vein thrombosis; passive and active physical exercises
Surveillance of sleep and rest
Attention to the person's personal clothing
Care of people with hypothermia and hyperthermia
Personal hygiene care with proper management principles (drains, probes, catheters)
Principles of post-surgical pain management
Administration of various types of diets; oral nutrition and hydration and total parenteral nutrition, fluids and electrolytes balance
Nursing issues in the person with ostomy: assessment, interrelation with other needs, the process of nursing care to the person with ostomy (enterostomy, gastrostomy, urostomy, tracheostomy)

Nursing therapeutic procedures:
Regulatory references, responsibilities, prescription management criteria, evaluation of the person, administration, monitoring of therapeutic effects and side effects, education of the person, principles to ensure safety in the management of pharmacology therapy
Drug administration: enteral (oral, gastric tube), topical (percutaneous, transmucosal), parenteral (intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous): principles, aims and indications, preparation of the person and the material, methods of administration and education for self-management.
Nursing management of peripheral vascular catheters (PVC), central venous catheters (CVC) and infusion lines
Nursing responsibilities and procedures in the administration of blood and blood products

Prerequisites for admission
Having passed the exams of Anatomy and Human Physiology, General Nursing Sciences, Clinical Nursing Sciences 1 and Internship 1.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The written test includes closed and / or open-ended questions, in addition, if the subject requires it, the candidate is also assessed with respect to the calculation tests related to the teaching.
The written test DOES NOT produce a mark, but only serves as a preliminary test to the oral examination.
The oral exam includes questions the assessment of which relates to the following parameters: content, logic, language properties.
The marks at the end of the oral examination will be expressed in thirthyts.

Nursing issues in the person undergoing surgery: assessment and evidence-based interventions in the perioperative period:
Prevention of health care associated infections (urinary tract, surgical wounds, respiratory tract)
Prevention of deep vein thrombosis; passive and active physical exercises
Surveillance of sleep and rest
Attention to the person's personal clothing
Care of people with hypothermia and hyperthermia
Personal hygiene care with proper management principles (drains, probes, catheters)
Principles of post-surgical pain management
Administration of various types of diets; oral nutrition and hydration and total parenteral nutrition, fluids and electrolytes balance
Nursing issues in the person with ostomy: assessment, interrelation with other needs, the process of nursing care to the person with ostomy (enterostomy, gastrostomy, urostomy, tracheostomy)

Nursing therapeutic procedures:
Regulatory references, responsibilities, prescription management criteria, evaluation of the person, administration, monitoring of therapeutic effects and side effects, education of the person, principles to ensure safety in the management of pharmacology therapy
Drug administration: enteral (oral, gastric tube), topical (percutaneous, transmucosal), parenteral (intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous): principles, aims and indications, preparation of the person and the material, methods of administration and education for self-management.

The written test DOES NOT produce a mark, but only serves as a preliminary test to the oral examination.
The oral exam includes questions the assessment of which relates to the following parameters: content, logic, language properties.

Nursing issues in the person undergoing surgery: assessment and evidence-based interventions in the perioperative period:
Prevention of health care associated infections (urinary tract, surgical wounds, respiratory tract)
Prevention of deep vein thrombosis; passive and active physical exercises
Surveillance of sleep and rest
Attention to the person's personal clothing
Care of people with hypothermia and hyperthermia
Personal hygiene care with proper management principles (drains, probes, catheters)
Principles of post-surgical pain management
Administration of various types of diets; oral nutrition and hydration and total parenteral nutrition, fluids and electrolytes balance

Nursing issues in the person undergoing surgery: assessment and evidence-based interventions in the perioperative period:
Prevention of health care associated infections (urinary tract, surgical wounds, respiratory tract)
Prevention of deep vein thrombosis; passive and active physical exercises
Surveillance of sleep and rest
Attention to the person's personal clothing
Care of people with hypothermia and hyperthermia
Personal hygiene care with proper management principles (drains, probes, catheters)
Principles of post-surgical pain management
Administration of various types of diets; oral nutrition and hydration and total parenteral nutrition, fluids and electrolytes balance
Nursing issues in the person with ostomy: assessment, interrelation with other needs, the process of nursing care to the person with ostomy (enterostomy, gastrostomy, urostomy, tracheostomy)

Nursing therapeutic procedures:
Regulatory references, responsibilities, prescription management criteria, evaluation of the person, administration, monitoring of therapeutic effects and side effects, education of the person, principles to ensure safety in the management of pharmacology therapy
Drug administration: enteral (oral, gastric tube), topical (percutaneous, transmucosal), parenteral (intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous): principles, aims and indications, preparation of the person and the material, methods of administration and education for self-management.
Nursing management of peripheral vascular catheters (PVC), central venous catheters (CVC) and infusion lines
Nursing responsibilities and procedures in the administration of blood and blood products
Nursing responsibilities and procedures in the administration of drugs and psychotropic substances
Nursing to the person with oxygen therapy

Prerequisites for admission
Having passed the exams of Anatomy and Human Physiology, General Nursing Sciences, Clinical Nursing Sciences 1 and Internship 1.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The written test includes closed and / or open-ended questions, in addition, if the subject requires it, the candidate is also assessed with respect to the calculation tests related to the teaching.
The written test DOES NOT produce a mark, but only serves as a preliminary test to the oral examination.
The oral exam includes questions the assessment of which relates to the following parameters: content, logic, language properties.
The marks at the end of the oral examination will be expressed in thirthyts.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The written test includes closed and / or open-ended questions, in addition, if the subject requires it, the candidate is also assessed with respect to the calculation tests related to the teaching.
The written test DOES NOT produce a mark, but only serves as a preliminary test to the oral examination.
The oral exam includes questions the assessment of which relates to the following parameters: content, logic, language properties.
The marks at the end of the oral examination will be expressed in thirthyts.

Nursing issues in the person undergoing surgery: assessment and evidence-based interventions in the perioperative period:
Prevention of health care associated infections (urinary tract, surgical wounds, respiratory tract)
Prevention of deep vein thrombosis; passive and active physical exercises
Surveillance of sleep and rest
Attention to the person's personal clothing
Care of people with hypothermia and hyperthermia
Personal hygiene care with proper management principles (drains, probes, catheters)
Principles of post-surgical pain management
Administration of various types of diets; oral nutrition and hydration and total parenteral nutrition, fluids and electrolytes balance

Presentation and demonstration of some specific skill lists of the course year (e.g. oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous therapy, dilution of a drug, dressing of the entry point of a peripheral and central venous catheter, placement of a peripheral venous catheter, venous blood collection, electrocardiogram, oxygen therapy, hygiene and dressing of the foot with ulcer of a person with diabetes mellitus)
