Learning objectives
The student will start to learn the laboratory functions and skills
2. To become aware of the behaviours and basic concepts in the laboratory
3. To be familiar with the basic instrumentations, such as scales and other measuring instruments
Expected learning outcomes
The student will be able to run and understand the laboratory flow and to use its basic tools. He/she will improve the basic knowledge and the usefulness of the Laboratory in the biomedical field.

Teaching methods and methods:
The lessons will be held in synchronous form according to the schedule established in presence and/ or online using the Microsoft Teams platform made available to the University.

The program and reference material will not change.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:
According to the directives in force at the time of the appeal, the examination will take place in presence and/or online. Oral online examinations will be carried out using the Microsoft Teams platform or other platform indicated by the University. Online written exams will be carried out using the platform or other platform indicated by the University.
Course syllabus
The 1st year of internship activity includes:
∙ 150 hours of small group activities (maximum 6 students), carried out in the teaching laboratories, with the aim to know the bases of Laboratory, to be aware of the Lab skills use, and to familiarize with the basic Lab tools , such as scales and other measuring instruments.
∙ 25 hours of theoretical-practical activity divided into two parts: one part aimed at the theoretical knowledge of compiling biomedical laboratory notebooks, and writing a technical report; the second part carried out in computer labs in order to familiarize with the collection and analysis of data through practical exercises on the excel platform
∙ 12.5 hours of activity in Computer Labs in order to familiarize with database for searching specific publications on the website
∙ 12.5 hours in the Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory aiming to give theoretical knowledge on the principles underlying the enzymatic dosage (set up) by using fluorimetric method as well as to improve some laboratory practical approaches
Prerequisites for admission
Requirements and preliminary knowledge in science and chemistry, as per curriculum deriving from secondary school diploma.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Written task on the activity in the Computer Lab on using specific database tool for web research of publications (0.5 CFU)
Evaluation of the technical skill on the enzymatic dosage using fluorimetric method (1.5 CFU).
Evaluation of the technical reported skills by any single student during the internship carried out in small groups (6 CFU).
The final mark will be the weighted average of the scores achieved by the 3 different tests.
