Learning objectives
Aim of the course is to provide general information on principles, rules and laws in laboratory safety and waste management.
A brief course on Basic Life Support and Defibrillation will be provided
Expected learning outcomes
Being aware of aims and knowing legislation, students will be able to understand and implement procedures on safety and waste management. They will have knowledge that will make them supportive in emergency management.

More specific information on the delivery modes of training activities for the academic year 2021/22 will be provided over the coming months, based on the evolution of the public health situation. The exams might be converted into online oral examinations due to the public health situation
Course syllabus
Safety rules - Current law. Safety in chemical and microbiological laboratories.
Waste management - Regulations. Waste classification, storage, and dispose.
Radioprotection -
Ionizing radiations: interaction with mater.
Using radioisotopes: rules, safety, waste management.
Basic life support - short Basic Life Support (BLS) concepts and training.
Toxicological emergency

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam is written with 4 open questions, one each session of the program. In order to pass the exam, each question must be positively evaluated (at least 18/30). The exam lasts 1 hour. The aim is to assess students' knowledge of the theoretical concepts and application of norms and procedures of prevention, safety, and first aid in the working environment.
