Course syllabus
The project articulation, planning and contents depend on the specific topic addressed in the thesis.
Prerequisites for admission
Basic prerequisite for admission to the final exam is the successful completion of all exams included in the curriculum, and related credit acquisition, as well as the formal definition of a topic to be addressed in the thesis and a supervisor guiding the student in the project development.
Teaching methods
The preparation of the thesis includes regular meetings with the supervisor (and co-supervisor, where present) to design the project, define and schedule related activities, and monitor the project advancements. Activities vary according to the topic (e.g. literature review; meetings with staff of labs, clinical divisions or administrative offices; data collection among patients, students, health professionals, healthy citizens or stakeholders; data analysis; report writing). The final exam takes place in a single session.
Teaching Resources
Bibliography depend on the specific project of the thesis.
The reference literature is specifically related to the topic addressed in the thesis.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The final exam consists of the oral presentation and discussion of the thesis, in Italian or in English, possibly with the support of slides, powerpoint files or other tools. The Commission includes 7 to 11 members.
Once all candidates have completed their presentations, the Commission members meet separately to determine the final scores, expressed as fraction of 110 and obtained through summing the weighted average of all curricular marks and the evaluation of the thesis (0-9 scores). Evaluation criteria for the thesis include content originality, typology of the study (literature review, data collection and analysis, intervention planning and implementation), mastery of the topic, clarity and conciseness of the presentation, ability to provide appropriate replies to the questions posed by the Commission.
