Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the bascic specific knowledge related to the disciplinary vocabulary and the theoretical-methodological skills to understand geographical and socio-economic issues of a complex nature.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will acquire the ability to deal with geo-territorial problems presented in critical, autonomous and proactive terms.

Course syllabus
The course program consists in the presentation and discussion of the following topics: historical development and the current state of the discipline. Particular attention will be paid to the main figures and schools of Western geography. Variety of Geographies and multiplicity of disciplinary approaches, with insights on some specific branches. The experience of travelling: forms, motivations, representations and travel descriptions.
Prerequisites for admission
Basic knowledge of the main historical events of the modern and contemporary age, and of the main physical and anthropic geographical features of Italy and European and non-European countries.
Teaching methods
Frontal lessons will be the main teaching method. Videos on geographical topics will also be broadcast during the course, in order to deepen some specific issues.

Assessment methods and Criteria
here will be a single test in the form of a oral question. No intermediate or pre-appeal tests are planned. The evaluation parameters will concern the ability to organise knowledge discursively, the ability to reason critically on geographical issues, the quality of the presentation and the competence in use of specialised vocabulary. The marks are expressed in thirtieths.
