Course syllabus
· Definition of Health Technology Assessment
· Regulatory framework
· The main international HTA agencies
· Development of HTA in Italy and mapping of regional agencies
· The three levels of HTA (macro, meso and micro)
· Difference between HTA of drugs and devices
· Practical applications of HTA: market access, patient access, real world evidence, conditional drug reimbursement agreements, HTA and PDTA
· Identification of technologies to be subjected to assessment and integration of HTA in procurement
· Comparison of the drug reimbursement system and HTA activities in Italy vs major European countries
· External testimony
Prerequisites for admission
No prior knowledge is required.
Teaching methods
The teaching will be delivered through classroom lessons in the presence, with synchronous streaming and recording or on the Microsoft Teams platform in relation to the progress of the emergency and the regulatory provisions and can be followed both in synchrony on the basis of the timetable of the first quarter and asynchronously as they will be registered and left available to students on the same platform.
Teaching Resources
Teachers will make slides and supporting material useful for understanding the topics covered on the website available to students in the part dedicated to teaching.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The students' acquisition of the expected learning outcomes will be ascertained through a final written test with the attribution of a mark out of thirty.
