Learning objectives
The course aims to:
- valuate clinic features of main neurological and psychiatric disease and recognize specific nutritional needs
- give students knowledge and competence in eating disorders in children, adolescence and adult

Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course student will have elaborate on link between neurological and psychiatric disease and nutrition, to identify nutrition therapy specific for the clinical condition.

Prerequisites for admission
For all the three teaching topics i.e. Psychology, Psychiatry, Neurology, It is recommended that the students attend the classes of the first two years, before attending the lessons of Scienze Specialistiche 1
Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam, which includes the three teaching subjects i.e psychology, psychiatry, neurology, will consist in a multiple choice quiz: 31 questions, with four possible answers each and only one will be the right one. Each answer, if correct, will be 1 point (maximum score: 30/30 cum laude).
Intermediate evaluations will be not contemplated. Supporting materials, as dictionaries, manuals, calculators, are not necessary. Results will be e-mailed to the secretary office.

: As concerns the Psychiatry section, only frontal lessons are contemplated, without any laboratory experience, simulations, seminars, team work or intermediate evaluations.
Each lesson will be immediately available on the e-learning platform Ariel; moreover, each topic, saved as *.ppt format, will be provided to students at the end of each lesson.

Neurology
Course syllabus
Cerebrovascular Diseases: neuronatomical bases, classification, main clinical features, acute phase treatment and therapies for complications.
Parkinson's Disease and "atypical" Parkinsonisms. Definition and classification, main pharmacological therapies and their side-effects, including dysphagia.
Alzheimer's Disease and other Dementias (fronto-temporal degeneration and normotensive hydrocephalus). Definition and classification, main pharmacological therapies and their side-effects.
Primary headaches. Classification, clinical presentation, dietary prevention and neurobiological bases for current pharmacological strategies.
Demyelinating Diseases of the Central nervous System: Multiple Sclerosis and mimicking disorders. Novel insights into the possible pathogenetic role of vitamin D.
New perspectives for non-pharmacological treatment of dysphagia in neurological syndromes. The role of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques; putative mechanisms of action, clinical and neurophysiological outcome (tDCS, rTMS).
