Learning objectives
The module aims to provide students with an educational program against gender-based violence by equipping them with psychological, legal and medical knowledges in this field.
The responsible of the legal part are professor D'Amico and Pellizzone. From a perspective of constitutional law, students will be able to understand the legal pattern of the fight against gender based violence and the relation between gender discrimination and gender based violence. A particular attention will be devoted to International conventions and strategic cases decided by the European Court of Human Rights.
Moreover, students will be able to acknowledge gender-based violence as a major health issue, and the role of the health system in preventing and addressing gender-based violence. The responsible of the clinic part of the course is Dr. Barbara Giussy, while Dr. Collini Federica is the responsible - together with Prof.ssa Cattaneo - of the issues concerning Forensic Pathology, and its importance in collecting evidence useful in Court.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will acquire Psychological, Legal and Medical skills, necessary to employ the proper tools and strategies in cases of Gender Based Violence.
Students will be able to analyze properly cases of Gender based violence and to find the proper tools for supporting the victims in their field of expertise (law and medicine).
The students will be able to detach the evidences or even the hints of the violence, to engage the victim in a dialogue with them and to find suitable strategies and support services for her.
