Learning objectives
The purpose of teaching is to acquire the advanced ethical-deontological and regulatory skills of:
- analysis of knowledge and methods of traditional obstetric deontology;
- identification and critical reading of new tensions in the relationship between obstetric profession and society;
- application of knowledge on the contents and limits of the ethical commitments of the midwife in the relationship with the person, with the aim of pursuing health and well-being and encourage participation in care choices and contribute to equitable and shared allocation of resources;
- systematic analysis of ethical problems detectable in obstetric pratice to express and guide responsible professional behaviours;
- understanding of the significance of the historical evolution of the regulation of obstetric absistance in contemporary times and identification of a prospect for the future development of the profession.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will analyze the ethical and deontological problems of obstetric practice according to methods derived from ethical theories for identification of alternative solutions.
Will analyze the role of the midwife in society and in social and health contexct with reference to the current regulation in order to identify prospects for change useful for pursuing the health of the population.
