Learning objectives
The workshop aims at introducing students to the methodologies of audio-video shooting and editing for researching and storytelling of territories.
Students will be guided through methodological and practical exercises aimed at learning the basic techniques of filming and editing.
Furthermore, students will be asked to work on an individual or collective project ( as defined during the workshop) focusing on the story of the territory.
Expected learning outcomes
The students are expected to master the various tools and methods learnt during the workshop in the context of the individual or collective realisation of a visual research project of geographical interest

Course syllabus
The workshop aims to introduce students to the methodologies of audio-video shooting and editing aimed at researching and narrating territories. The workshop will take place on a residential basis in a municipality of the Unité des communes Mont Emilius (AOSTA), in order to practice the methodologies learnt in a field experience.
The workshop will focus on topics such as
- photographic theory and technique ( basics)
- audio-video shooting technique ( basics)
- Cataloguing and data storage
- Video editing ( basics)
- Theory and methods for the visual narration of territories
- Basics of documentary cinema

Students will also be guided in methodological and practical exercises aimed at learning the basics of shooting and editing techniques.

Students are reminded that it will be necessary to sign up for the workshop through SIFA in order to access the 3 CFU.
Prerequisites for admission
The Laboratory is open to students of the Laurea Triennale (Undergraduation) in Human Sciences of the Environment, Territory and Landscape.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Each student will be assessed according to the methodological rigor that he/she will apply in his/her fieldwork. At the end of the course, each student will have to return a written paper that reports selected methods, data and findings obtained or alternatively an audio-visual product.
