Biosecurity and Management

Learning objectives
To provide knowledge on all measures, policies and procedures to minimise potential health risks for poultry and rabbit farming. To provide knowledge on the main procedures for the prevention, control and eradication of infectious diseases in poultry farming. Provide the main procedures for individual biosecurity. Provide knowledge to prevent the entry of pathogens and their spread in the farm. To provide knowledge on vaccination, antimicrobial and diagnostic approaches for infection prevention and control. Provide expertise for the implementation and management of biosecurity plans for poultry and rabbit farms; assessment of biosecurity plans and implementation of preventive and corrective protocols including nutritional, immune and parasitic aspects.
Expected learning outcomes
The student must demonstrate that he/she knows and knows how to apply the main personal and business biosecurity procedures to be applied in the poultry and rabbit farm. They must also be able to assess biosecurity plans and apply preventive and corrective protocols in different types of poultry farming.

Knowledge of cell biology and microbiology; basic chemistry and biochemistry skills
