Learning objectives
- Knowing the basics of drug action and their effects
- Knowing and being able to describe the general basis of the diseases, the main systemic and organ pathological conditions with particular regard to: etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical manifestations and therapeutic strategies
- Knowing the specific terminology for understanding and communication in a clinical work context
- Knowing the fundamentals of physical medicine and rehabilitation of motor activities in developmental age, with in-depth studies in physchiatry, orthopedy and kinesiology
Expected learning outcomes
The student must understand and be able to explain:
- the basis of drug action and of their effects;
-the main systemic and organ pathological conditions with particular regard to: etiology, outline of epidemiology, pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical manifestations and diagnostic and therapeutic pathways;
- the fundamentals of physical medicine and rehabilitation of motor activities in the developmental age.
The student must demonstrate mastery of the specific terminology for understanding and communication in a clinical work context.

Basic knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, pathology and human physiology.

Written test with open or multiple choice questions and oral exam.

-Effect of drugs, receptor agonists and antagonists - Generalities on receptors -Main classes of receptors
-Secretion, desensitization and downregulation of receptors
-Clinical drug development and Pharmacovigilance
-Pharmacogenetics
-General principles of pharmacokinetics: absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination of drugs.
-NSAIDs and arachidonic acid
-Corticosteroids and related receptors
-Rare diseases and dystrophies
-Central nervous system pharmacology
-Sedative, hypnotic and anxiolytic drugs.
-Antidepressant drugs.
-Antipsychotic drugs.
-Mood stabilizer drugs.
