Learning objectives
The course provides the theoretical-scientific and practical-methodological bases for training and motor activity in persons/athletes with a physical disability.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will acquire knowledge and skills in: 1) major motor characteristics of physical, sensorial, and intellectual-relational disability; 2) performance models of the main Paralympic sports; 3) designing, conducting, and managing training programs specifically developed for athletes with disability; 4) development of skills that support an adequate educational relationship and communicative competence with persons with a disability and caregivers.

Knowledge of the major characteristics of physical, sensorial, and intellectual-relational disabilities.
Acquisition of methodological skills specific to the performance model of the main Paralympic sports
Design, conduct, and management of training protocols specific for athletes with disability.
Development of skills that support an adequate educational relationship and communicative competence with persons with a disability and caregivers.
· Overview of the history and organization of sports for the disabled in Italy and around the world
· The World Health Organization (WHO) International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF)
· Analysis of different types of disability
· Analysis of the performance model of the main Paralympic sports
· Evaluation of motor function in athletes with disability
· Design and conduct of training programs for persons with disability on an individual and a collective basis
