Learning objectives
The main objective of the teaching activity is to provide students with the knowledge and tools to develop the ability to face and understand the recent major changes in economic situation and the consequent regulatory measures. Particular attention will be given to the discussion on the system of existing rules (European and national), to the rapid obsolescence to which they are subject and to the continuous changes requiring a review of the rules. The topic of the study will be the regulatory developments resulting from the recent financial and sovereign debt crisis as well as the evolution of the banking system and financial markets, with particular reference to the impact of technological innovations (Fintech). Through this survey, students will be encouraged to develop and acquire greater autonomy of judgment and evaluation skills on topical issues about the impact of existing rules, the shortcomings highlighted and to any corrective actions carried out. To facilitate this process during the course, the students could carry out group work to be presented in the classroom on specific topics, including jurisprudential issues. As a result, expressive skills will be developed, as well as the ability to summarize, illustrate and present in public the main legal issues.
Expected learning outcomes
The course aims to provide students with adequate basic knowledge and methodological skills on economics law, with particular reference to the European regulation of the banking and financial markets. Thanks to a strongly interdisciplinary approach, students will develop the ability to analyze the interactions between economic systems and institutional structures, to understand the influence of regulation on the functioning of companies, markets and public administrations. Finally, the course aims to develop the critical spirit of students towards tools and objectives of public regulation of private economic activities.
