Learning objectives
The final exam consists of the defense of a research thesis developed by the student in an original way under the guidance of a supervisor. In this activity, which lasts at least one semester, the student experiences the researcher's work in a real context, either on a basic or applied research question, and learns to prepare a scientific report, to present the results and to defend his/her work against peers.
Expected learning outcomes
After the preparation and discussion of the thesis, the student will have acquired competencies related to the main objectives of the study program, namely:
· To develop and apply mathematical and numerical models of geophysical systems and processes;
· To design and to perform observation, monitoring and exploration of the Earth at different scales;
· To perform, autonomously or in team work with other professionals, risk analysis, in particular about seismic, meteorological and environmental hazard, also finalized to the design of mitigation and adaptation measures and of prevention and emergency.
