Learning objectives
The course aims to:
- introduce students to reflection on the French language;
- acquire awareness of the phenomenon of linguistic borrowing, to and from the French language.

Course syllabus
The course "Parole in viaggio, prestiti da e verso il francese" is aimed at students of the Licence degree; it is held in the first semester and includes three parts.
Students interested in acquiring 6 ECTS will adhere to the program of parts A + B or A + C; students interested in acquiring 9 ECTS will follow the full program.
Part A (20 hours, 3 ECTS) constitutes an introduction to language loan, with references to the history of loanwords into French language.
Part B (20 hours, 3 ECTS) will be dedicated to loanwords into contemporary French.
Part C (20 hours, 3 ECTS) will be dedicated to loans from French into other languages, in particular into Italian.
The course programme is valid until February 2025.

The course is held partly in French; exam materials and bibliography presuppose a written understanding of texts in French.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam will take place in oral form, in Italian or French at the student's choice. It will consist of an individual assessment, which includes one question about the theoretical contents of the course and a linguistic reading and commentary on one of the texts read and commented on during the course.
Non-attending students, international students or incoming Erasmus students have to contact the lecturer. The examination procedures for students with disabilities and/or with DSA must be agreed with the lecturer, in agreement with the relevant office.
