Learning objectives
To provide the knowledge about methods, techniques and technologies related to the process of the development of active tourism in mountain areas, in particular related to planning, design, management and promotion of soft mobility networks, both with regard to infrastructures and to sustainable development for local communities and businesses.
Expected learning outcomes
Students will be able to analyze and evaluate the territorial and environmental resources of the mountain areas and the active tourism demand and characteristics, both in quantitative and qualitative terms; to define a plan for the design, realization, management, and promotion of the soft mobility network for active tourism in mountain areas.

Classes will be carried out in person. Seats in classrooms must be reserved through the Lezioni_Unimi app or the Timetable Portal.
All lectures will be streamed online with Teams.
Eventual more specific information will be provided over the coming months, based on the evolution of the public health situation.
Course syllabus
During the course, the following topics will be presented:
- introduction to Land-Use and Landscape Planning and the relative legislation;
- introduction to sustainable tourism in mountain areas;
- analysis and assessment of the territorial offer in terms of infrastructures active tourism, territorial and environmental resources; local and traditional products, rural tourism services, involvement of the local community;
- analysis and assessment of the demand for active tourism and user needs: quantification and characterization of soft mobility users and general tourists (methods, techniques, data available);
- planning and promotion of soft mobility networks for tourism and recreation in mountain areas;
- design elements of the infrastructures for soft mobility in mountain areas.
Contents of the program are the same also for non-attending students.

Lectures in the classroom, related to theoretical elements and applicative case studies.
Technical visits.
Seminars of international experts.
Sample exercises in the classroom.
Teaching Resources
The teaching material will be made available on the official MS Teams classroom and will be composed of:
- slides of the lessons,
- technical-scientific insights indicated during the course, and relevant international reference literature,
- reference legislation.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The evaluation is expressed by means of a vote out of thirty. The grade is communicated to each individual student by e-mail.
Students with SLD and disabilities are asked to contact the teacher via email at least 10 days before the scheduled exam date to agree on any individualized measures. In the email addressed to the teacher, it is necessary to CC the respective University Services: [email protected] (for students with SLD) and [email protected] (for students with disabilities).
The evaluation will be based on an individual or group project in which each student will have to demonstrate, through a concrete case, the acquired competences in terms of methods, procedures and techniques learned during the course. The oral exam will include the discussion of the student's "individual or group project".
