Course syllabus
The internship must consist of work carried out by the student in a research group aimed at addressing a problem of biological interest, learning and applying experimental methods, and understanding, analyzing and contextualizing the results obtained.
Prerequisites for admission
Internship 1 is mandatory and required for graduation.
The location and topic of the internship must be agreed upon by both the University of Milan (UniMI) and the University of Grenoble-Alpes (UGA) through the Joint Board of Studies (JBS). The JBS must appoint at least one academic supervisor for each internship.
According to the Italian and French national regulations, all students must sign a specific internship agreement with at least one of the two universities and the host organization or company, even if the internship takes place in a third country. The agreement must include a brief description of the work to be done, the name and address of the person responsible for the training, the PI of the group involved, and the duration of the internship.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Students must submit a written report in English and the supervisor's evaluation form. The student will be asked to give a short oral presentation of the work, followed by a discussion with a committee composed of members of both universities. At UNIMI the internship work is simply approved or not approved, while at UGA a grade out of 20 is assigned.
