Course syllabus
The course focuses on the fundamental features of Italian private law, from a comparative law perspective. In particular, the course will consider the following specific topics: sources of law and legal formants; "individuals" (natural persons) and "collective entities" (legal persons); family; succession; property, ownership and possession; contracts in general and nominate contracts; torts.
As regards duration, the course consists of 42 hours of lecture. As regards methodology, the Professor will devote a certain number of hours to introductory lectures; the remaining lecture hours will be dedicated to the discussion of specific cases (moot courts model), oral arguments on select topics and discussion of legal documents. Accordingly, during the course students will be required to submit a specific case to the class or, alternatively, to make oral arguments on specific topics chosen by the Professor.

Prerequisites for admission
Private law, Constitutional law (not for erasmus students). Exceptionally, students who have not already passed the above mentioned courses may be allowed to attend the course and take the exam afterwards.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam will consist of an oral interview aimed at ascertaining the student's knowledge of course topics, the understanding and acquisition of appropriate lexicon, and the ability to synthesize and rework general principles and rules.
