Learning objectives
The aim of this course is:
· acquire basic educational knowledge and understand epistemological principles of the pedagogical research (theoretical and empirical), distinguishing the multiplicity of phenomelogy and educational contexts;
· know frameworks in order to understand the educational relationship, recognising the ethical component in educational practice.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student must:
· know the epistemological principles of pedagogical theoretical and empirical research;
· gain and distinguish the variety of the phenomelogy and educational contexts;
· know the frameworks in order to understand and read any educational relationship;
· know how to analyse, understand and evaluate processes, events, spaces and times, subjects of Education;
· recognize the ethical component in the educational practice;

Course syllabus
1. outline of pedagogical history and development of pedagogical thinking
2. relationship between education, instruction and training
3. pedagogical research
4. the role of the educator in different contexts
5. introduction to the subject of disability (from the historical point of view)
Prerequisites for admission
There are no prerequisites.
Teaching methods
The lessons will be predominantly frontal. However, some moments of group exercises are planned to deepen (through the comparison between the students) the contents proposed during the lessons.
Films (or film clips) will also be offered regarding the topic discussed

- Self-representations of educational work
- Change as an empirical component of education
- The plurality of educational work. The educational challenge of the contemporary era.
- The identity of the professional educator: meanings and ethics of the educational profession
- The perspective of educational care in relation to different care practices
- The educational relationship: privileged instrument of education
- Emotional competence as a professional resource
- Working together to educate: the value of the team and the group work with users
- The centrality of the user: the theoretical model of the adult condition desired as a reference for an educational and life project
- The family as a resource in the educational process
- The educational documentation

Teaching methods
Topics will be addressed by favoring an active teaching methodology, which enriches the theoretical contributions through the use of individual and group exercises, in order to favor the integration between a research work and personal elaboration and the work of the class-group.
