Learning objectives
This course aims at providing students with the skills to evaluate population health at local and global level. Students will learn about prevention strategies that impact on the organization of services and their assessment, as well as strategies to pursue patient safety and risk management. Key elements will be provided for the assessment of health technologies. The sub-module on global health will focus on the key concepts and the definition of "Global Health", its evolution from tropical medicine through public and international health; the significance of the "Global burden of disease", the epidemiological transition, and the socio-economic determinants of health; the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG); the role of the World Health Organization and other actors with an emphasis on the International Health Regulations; international cooperation; and the big challenges of migrant health and climate change.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will have learned: - the indicators that illustrate the health of the population - risk management methodologies - the performance of prevention systems - the state of health of the world and its possible evolution - the necessary "mindset" to face the major problems in global health in a cross-disciplinary and multisectoral context.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Students' understanding of the various topics as a result of the learning performance will be
ascertained through a final written exam with the attribution of a mark up to 30/30.
