Learning objectives
To study the etiopathogenetic mechanism of the main psychiatric disorders, improve the knowledge of psychopathological phenomena. Take a deeper look of the theoretical basis of the main treatments in psychiatry. To acquire the ability to develop an integrated approach to the patient, critically evaluating not only the clinical but also the rehabilitative, relational, educational, social and ethical features involved in the prevention, assistance, rehabilitation and recovery of the highest possible level of well-being. To acquire the cultural and professional features that guide the medical process, the diagnostic thinking, the rehabilitative intervention, considering the patients and the community, using these principles during work experiences in healthcare facilities.

To know the main fundamentals of clinical thinking and its implementation in clinical and rehabilitative practice

Assessment methods and Criteria
Assessment of the learning will take place through a oral /written test.
The evaluation criteria used will be the ability to list and organize the acquired knowledges as well as their application for the resolution of short questions. The evaluation of the teaching will be expressed in 30th and will be the result of the weighted average of the votes acquired in each module of the teaching. Ongoing written tests may be planned towards the end of the course. The results of the tests will be communicated to the students through online verbalization system of university.

Course syllabus
1) Pharmacological therapy in psychosis
Therapeutic aspects related to the main psychiatric diseases of the childhood and adolescence. Study of psychiatric drugs, their mechanism of action, therapeutic use, adverse reactions, and toxicity with particular reference to the psychopharmacology treatments for psychosis in adolescence.
2) Toxic effects of substances of abuse
The main substances of abuse (synthetic and natural drugs) in adolescence: mechanism of action, neuropsychiatric effects, adverse reactions, and toxicity. Principles for the pharmacological treatment of substances addiction.
3) Psychogeriatric psychopharmacology
Psychopharmacological agents used in the treatment of psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders in the elderly, including mechanisms of action, side effects and toxicity.
Pharmacovigilance aspects specific to the geriatric population.
Pharmacoepidemiological aspects specific to the geriatric population affected by psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.

Main tests for psychiatric research evaluation and for clinical use.

The topics treated in psychiatry 1 and deepened with therapeutic indications and elements of clinical reasoning starting from clinical cases will be resumed.
Definition, theoretical and application aspects, epidemiology; aspects of the crisis and phases of the disease; the oncological patient, consultation and HIV infection psychiatry, cardiopathic patient, diabetic patient, depression in neurological diseases.
Diseases of eating disorders in childhood and adolescence and adults. Classification ICD and DSM, Multisystem model in the early stages of DCAs.

Course syllabus
Sharing of notions on the concept of mental health and health according to a biopsychosocial and recovery-oriented approach; social determinants of mental health, main and most current documents of WHO related to the Action Plan for Mental Health and Social determinants. How to structure rehabilitation-therapeutic projects aimed at psychic discomfort in the context of serious marginalization; quantitative and qualitative aspects related to the "homelessness and psychic discomfort, hints of "street psychiatry" as a model of integrated relational and rehabilitative approach in favor of multiproblematic subjects.
