Learning objectives
The course is divided into lessons organized into various historical frameworks regarding the evolution of radio and television systems and in meetings with key players of the various jobs taking place in radio and television production. The course will analyze the design, preparation, production and airing of a television and radio programs with on-site participation in the recording/airing.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student is expected to have acquired:
Knowledge: the student will master the salient aspects of the evolution of radio and television media, technological changes, those to production equipment and for languages.
Skills: they will be able to interact with some of the jobs required in today's radio and television productions.

Course syllabus
The objective of the course is to introduce students to the fundamentals of radio and television communication. The preferred theoretical approach is that of the anthropology of media from which we will take inspiration to analyze the role of radio and TV in different social and cultural contexts.
The audio sector (radio and podcasts) will be privileged over the television sector. During the lessons, group work will be carried out on the reading and re-elaboration of the texts in the bibliography. During the lessons, reference will also be made to media coverage of current events as a basis for collective critical discussion.
In particular, the following perspectives will be addressed:
- elements of history of TV radio
- elements of media discourse analysis
- elements of media anthropology
- analysis of audiences
- analysis of radio and television professionalism

None.
Teaching methods
The course includes lectures with the support of texts, slides and audiovisual aids and web sources. When possible, some experts of the radio and TV sector will be invited in order to provide students with an insight into production processes and professional figures.

Assessment methods and Criteria
Only for attending students
Students will have to submit a written paper (approximately 4500-5000 words) on a topic of their choice agreed with the teacher, starting from the topics covered in the course. The paper must be submitted to the teacher at least 10 days before the date of the exam. The evaluation of the paper will be followed by a short interview that will take its cue from the issues raised by the paper and will range over topics covered in the program. The topic of the paper will be determined towards the middle of the course.

For non attending studies: oral interview
The oral interview will consist of a discussion of the materials on the syllabus: bibliography and slides.
