Programme
Basic tools for tree propagation (sexual/vegetative), including in vitro-propagation.
Evolution and trends in the tree nursery industry.
Organization and general management of a treenursery.
Basic material and certification schemes (mother plants); assessment of tree quality in a nursery.
Nursery field management for growing in open field and in container.
Nursery management for fruit trees, grape, ornamental and forestry/landscape species
Prerequisites for admission
Fundamentals of morpho-biology of the cultivated tree and agronomic basis of cultivation (tree-environment relationship).
Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars (5 credits, 40 hours); Class or field exercises, on case studies (0.5 ECTS, 8 hours); field visits to professional companies of the related industry (0.5 ECTS, 8 hours).

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam will take place through an oral interview aimed at ascertaining the knowledge acquired by the candidate on the theoretical and technical aspects treated during the course. Basically, four issues will be discussed on:
1- Propagation techniques
2- 'Qualtiy' concepts for the tree nursery industry: physiological, morphological, phytosanitary.
3-Nursery management aspects: in the open field or in containers
4- Propagation techniques and nursery material in a field of choice: fruit, grape, forestry
