Learning objectives
The course aims to enable students to achieve: - a thorough knowledge of the origin, sources, structure and functioning of the occupational health and safety prevention system in Italy and Europe; - the ability to critically address the issues and solve the legal questions required for the purpose of assuming tasks of a technical-legal nature related to the performance of business and professional activities and the implementation of the provisions of d. lgs. n. 81/2008; - full mastery of the technical language related to the subject; - the ability to connect the various topics and apply the knowledge acquired to the different subjects.The ability to link the various topics and apply the knowledge acquired in interpreting the sources of legislative and contractual regulations in force with method and autonomy of assessment.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student who has successfully mastered the subject will have an in-depth knowledge of the aims, contexts, issues and possible consequences of international, european and national law policies in the field of workers' health and safety with the acquisition of a method of reasoning suitable for dealing with complex legal issues.

Course syllabus
The course will be divided into two modules:
a) a first module concerning the protection of the health and safety of workers in the national (constitutional principles, code of conduct, special legislation, Article 9 of the Workers' Statute, the evolution of company and national collective bargaining), international (the ILO Conventions, the framework directive n. 391/1989 and the particular directives, the case law of the Court of Justice) and EU (the limits and critical profiles in the implementation of EU directives in the main European countries);
b) a second module concerning the regulation of Title I of Legislative Decree no. 81/2008 and, in particular, the developments and characteristics of the regulation (also in the light of the digital transformation of "Industry 4.0" and the Covid-19 pandemic emergency), the objective and subjective scope of application, the institutional and prevention system, the insurance system for accidents at work and occupational diseases.

Prerequisites for admission
No prior knowledge is required, with the exception of what is indicated in the teaching regulations of the degree course, according to which the teachings of institutions of private law, constitutional law and labour law are preparatory.
Teaching methods
Frontal lessons. Classroom lessons may be complemented by seminar activities and in-depth focuses on specific aspects of the subject.
