Learning objectives
The workshop aims to present to students the work that is done in the drafting of a book publishing house, providing guidance on the tools necessary for the preparation of a text to be printed, in accordance with the editorial standards of each specific publishing house and in reference to the graphic needs of the mise en page, to be met with the pagination software.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the workshop on editorial work in the publishing house the student will have acquired a clear overview of the tasks which are completed by a book publishing editor and will have become aware of the tools necessary to perform the different tasks an editor is called to prepare a text for printing.

Course syllabus
The workshop will focus on the editorial work specific to a book publisher, focusing in particular on editing, proofreading, note construction and bibliographic research, but also on the knowledge requirements of layout programs, which are increasingly in demand in the publishing sector.
Prerequisites for admission
Good knowledge of the history of contemporary Italian literature; basic knowledge of the history of books, printing, and publishing; and strong interest in the book publishing industry. Good knowledge of the Office package is recommended.
Teaching methods
Modules will consist of lectures, interspersed with dialogue with students and the performance of practical exercises: specifically a proofreading test, an editing test and a bibliographic compilation test.

Materials will be provided during classes.
Assessment methods and Criteria
The final result, which will be communicated in a short individual interview during the last meeting, will take into account the outcome of the tests taken during the workshop and the evaluation of the contribution made during the lectures and to the interest shown by the students.
