Learning objectives
The course aims to offer the general guidelines for the development of European and Western constitutional history from the late Middle Ages to Modern period and to provide the lexical and conceptual tools specific to the discipline.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course of study the student will have acquired a good knowledge of the constitutional development of European and Western history from the late Middle Ages to the Modern period. They will also be able to place events and protagonists within historical and geographical contexts.
The student will be able to use appropriate language tools, useful for expressing in a clear and effective manner the particular concepts and the main themes of the discipline. They will be able to read critically historiographical works and use the main tools, including digital tools, for research and source analysis. These skills will be acquired through a direct and continuous comparison with the aid of the instructor in the classroom. The discussion posed from time to time concerning the sources will be an essential point of critical reflection and methodological learning. It will also be important to participate, in tandem with the regular lessons, in special meetings and seminars organized by the instructor, on the topics studied in the classroom. Students opting not to attend the lessons will be able to make use of the educational tools provided by the instructor, deepen their knowledge of main arguments through special readings with the agreement with the instructor, and compare ideas with the instructor during office hours.
