Learning objectives
The learning objective of the final dissertation is to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the research project carried out during the Master's thesis preparation. The thesis project is an autonomous and first-hand experience in which the student can apply the knowledge learned in the Plant Science master course's teachings to a research project. The thesis, written in English, must be based on the development of an original research project of biological interest. It usually implies collecting scientific data, learning novel and emerging research technologies, cutting-edge data acquisition systems, and analytical methods to address different biological questions.
Expected learning outcomes
The student will acquire the appropriate tools necessary for the critical evaluation of scientific literature and for the accurate interpretation and analysis of data in the research field of the thesis project. Skills in scientific writing will be achieved throughout the course of study and during the writing of the final thesis. By the conclusion of the activities related to the final examination, the student will have acquired the ability to correctly address a scientific problem and to plan and execute experimental activities. Through the writing of the thesis, and the final dissertation, the graduate will acquire the ability to effectively communicate the results of his/her original research work and to discuss them in the context of the most recent knowledge in Plant Science, demonstrating the acquisition of a solid cultural and methodological competence.
