Learning objectives
The final dissertation allows the student to conduct, independently and through a thorough critical reflection, the drafting, presentation and discussion of an original paper, written under the guidance of a tutor on a scientific research theme consistent with the training path.
The work will consist of the analysis, commentary, possible translation and framing - according to the methodologies appropriate to the disciplinary sector of reference - of sources, finds, historical document texts, critiques or historiographies.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the dissertation period, the student will be able to:
- apply knowledge of the disciplinary and transversal content learned throughout the entire training course in the analysis of a specific historical topic
-use the linguistic tools (language properties, correct specific lexicon) to express in the written form, clearly and effectively, concepts and reflections of a political, institutional, economic, religious historical nature
- master the most up-to-date bibliographical and archival tools (also online) that are functional to historical research
- orient between the different types of sources, performing a proper exegesis and introducing a critical and historically correct reflection on the theme identified
- summarize and communicate the information inferred from the sources, placing them within the cultural and historical contexts which had produced them;
- use the skills and formal tools of writing to formulate a written text applied to historical research (writing notes, bibliography, citations, etc... )
