Gnatology
A.Y. 2024/2025
Learning objectives
The students are introduced to the "clinic" of already familiar concepts such as: occlusion, dental morphology and TMJ. When approaching the end of the course the students will have acquired the following competences subsequently listed. Focus on the significance of cranio-mandibular disorders and TMJ disorders in a dynamic and functional relation to other components of the stomatognathic system. Understanding the neuromuscular basis of mobility of the stomatognathic system and dental occlusion. Identifing the most appropriate diagnostic exams in the area. Setting up a simple treatment planning for occlusal disorders. Introducing and recognizing the concept of occlusal dysestesia disorder and the fundamental principles of obtaining and maintenance of occlusal harmony according with the innovations trends and the best practices.
Expected learning outcomes
To distinguish the specificity of the stomatognathic system into the whole body. Emphasize the importance of appropriate occlusion morphology, functionality and jaw relations from childhood to adulthood. Setting up a treatment plan for the most prevalent diseases in the field.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam will be carried out in a multiple choice quiz mode. There are 30 questions. Each question has one or more correct answers. Each question, for the purposes of the final evaluation, is worth 1 point. The final vote is based on the number of correct answers (eg if there are 2 correct answers each is worth 0.5 points) and / or incorrect (each is worth -0.25 points). For each question the student has 1 minute for a total of 30 minutes. Candidates who have obtained a score of at least 15 points can request to sit the oral exam for which up to ± 5 points are awarded
