Learning objectives
The laboratory provides the methodological tools suitable for carrying out research activities in the field of organized crime and mafias. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the course will focus on the main tools of social (qualitative and quantitative) and historical research, on the analysis of sources, on the places where they are stored, on how to consult them and on the critical issues related to their use. Finally, during the lessons, attention will be drawn to some key issues for understanding the mafia phenomenon, in the light of the most recent studies: from mafia violence to methods of controlling the territory, passing through the so-called "reati spia". How to set up a research on mafias? What tools to use to investigate the phenomenon? The laboratory will try to answer these questions.
