Laboratory. Participation and Deliberation in the Context of Citizen's Assemblies

With a practical and professionalizing approach, the Laboratory's main goal is to promote the knowledge of new tools of civic participation, both in comparative perspective and with reference to the City of Milan.
Students, in particular, will have the opportunity to develop specific skills related to new tools of civic participation that involve citizens in highly sensitive social issues (such as environment and climate change) and to learn facilitation and moderation techniques, aimed at training new professional figures.

Knowledge and understanding / Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
Thanks also to the participation of professionals and civil servants, students will become familiar with analysis and classification of participatory and deliberative tools (participatory budgets, citizens' assemblies, public discussion) being able to develop some basic professional skills that can be used in labour market.
Students will also develop practical skills, observing the functioning of a citizen assembly in Milan, being able to implement their ability to apply the skills learned to concrete experiences.

Communication skills
Students will acquire the ability to clearly communicate the knowledge and practical skills learned (group/assembly mediation techniques).
