Learning objectives
The laboratory aims to offer students a critical understanding of the main concepts and phenomena related to the development of environmental crimes, through a sociological approach that can place these phenomena within a broader panorama that also includes the experiences of social mobilization developed in response to environmental pollution, traffic in hazardous waste, land grabbing and other phenomena related to the current environmental crisis. Rudiments of environmental law and specific case studies will be analyzed in order to highlight the social, economic and political repercussions that environmental crimes have on certain communities.
Expected learning outcomes
- Knowledge of the key concepts related to environmental crime
- ability to place these phenomena in the broader context of ecological crisis
- Knowledge of the main environmental crimes and some paradigmatic case studies
- Ability to carry out short research on a case study
