Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with an exciting opportunity to focus on the Arctic, promoting the understanding of the circumpolar regions and their connection with the entire world. The course also aims to promote the development of student's skills, such as critical thinking, evidence-based research, advanced reading and rigorous analysis.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the student should be able to utilize his or her interdisciplinary knowledge about the Arctic region, understanding the main issues of politics, geopolitics, law, environment and the contemporary global Arctic economy. Students should be able to analyze critically contemporary developments in Arctic politics, climate change, international law, governmental circumpolar projects, extraction of natural resources, interference by the major Arctic and non-Arctic actors involved in Arctic politics and their consequences in terms of sustainable development.
