Learning objectives
The general purpose of the proposed course is to familiarize yourself with the French legal language through the discovery of the French legal and judicial system.
The specialty lexicon and legal phraseology will be discovered and studied through thematic learning units and progressive exercises highlighting the differences with the general language. Particular attention will naturally be paid to interference with the mother tongue and any semantic confusions.
Specific objectives: to be able to understand legal and genuine texts and audio documents in different branches and areas; to learn how to comment on a legal text as well as a case study; being able to express an opinion on a case study or article; to learn and to know how to synthesize a written or oral legal document; to learn and to be able to structure a written text and an oral presentation according to French standards; being able to communicate and to use the French language in the legal field in the various branches and areas of French law studied.
CECRL specific skills:
UNDERSTANDING authentic written and oral legal documents;
PRODUCTION of written texts and oral presentations in the legal field.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to understand legal documents of various fields, as well as to draft legal means. Students will also have the necessary familiarity to use orally the specific legal terminology of the French language.
