Learning objectives
This course aims to delve deeper into the analysis of discursive genres in the business-administration and political sectors in Spanish-speaking contexts. Particular attention is given to the role of mediation in these sectors and the communication strategies that ensure linguistic and intercultural efficiency. Notably, it aims to provide students with knowledge and skills to be applied to all those professional contexts where mediation plays an important role. The course includes a theoretical introduction, a metalinguistic reflection through the analysis of texts, and a practical part in which students will be asked to actively implement their oral and written linguistic skills, as well as their interlinguistic and intercultural mediation skills. Through communication, students will also acquire some grammatical and syntactic structures of the Spanish language, with particular reference to subordinate sentences.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students should have acquired Spanish proficiency at least at B2 level under the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Moreover, they should be able to describe the contents of the course in Spanish, and to analyse texts and adopt mediation strategies in the above-mentioned contexts on their own.
