Learning objectives
The workshop presents various thematic paths on the discipline of Egyptology through the materials preserved in the Egyptological Archives of the University of Milan, which are among the most important in the world, with the aim of making students aware of their importance both in terms of their material dimension and their historical and cultural content
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge of historical formation and the content of the Egyptology Archives of the University of Milan.
Skills: Students will be able to describe the main documents preserved in the Archives in their Egyptological and historical-cultural aspects, to evaluate their impact in contemporary society and to communicate them to the public through virtual exhibitions and social networks.

Course syllabus
The documents preserved at the Archives of Egyptology of the University of Milan will provide an opportunity to reflect on the most important egyptological themes: through ancient photographs, unpublished manuscripts, correspondence between scholars, technical projects, watercolours and much more, the great archaeological discoveries in Egypt, the history of the most important museums of Egyptian antiquities, the role of Egypt in art and photography, the philological and epigraphic study of language and the impressive relocation of the temples of the island of Philae to the island of Agilkia will be dealt with. The students will be called upon to design an activity to enhance the Archives of Egyptology to the general public or to present a topic of Egyptology or History of Egyptology through one or more documents preserved in the Archives of Egyptology.
Prerequisites for admission
It is preferable, but not necessary, that students have basic knowledge of Egyptology

Lectures alternating with independent student work under teacher supervision and practical exercises

Assessment methods and Criteria
The constant participation of the student and the successful completion of the activities assigned to him/her will be verified. The final evaluation is "Approved" or "Not-approved".
