Learning objectives
The Laboratory aims to offer for the students an opportunity to know and be in direct contact with the most representative personalities, spaces and institutions iofJapanese arts and design in the National territory, with a special attention to Milan area, a central city for exchanges and the birth of movements and projects of collaboration between Japanese and Italian designers, architects and artisans, but also a place where archives and public and private collections of oriental art and design are present. Lessons will be done in museums and exhibition spaces, involving students in activities thought as an exercise to apply their capacities in the coordination of projects on the subject of oriental materials, in the production of texts, in the interrelation with international professionals of the field and with local institutions dedicated.
Expected learning outcomes
Knowledge of the most representative names, spaces and institutions involved in the collection and creation of Japanese art and design projects on National territory, with special attention to regional area. Acquisition of the specific English and Japanese terminology; knowledge of exhibitions and archives methods and models, and of the phases of production of an exhibition and texts related to Japanese arts and design; acquisition of basic capacities of research on original materials and capacities of interfacing with professionals and institutions of the field.
