Course syllabus
During the workshop, students will be guided in the publication of a manuscript text, following the philological method. The exercise will cover all stages of editing, beginning with the transcription of the witness.
1. Presentation of the text to be studied.
2. Aspects of genre, language, and historical-literary context.
3. Structuring and preparing a critical edition: the Note on the text, the Critical apparatus of variants, and the Indexes.
Prerequisites for admission
None.
Teaching methods
The exercise will be organized into small groups. The teacher will coordinate the discussion on issues that may arise during the work, such as text transcription, language variety, the preparation of the critical apparatus, and any indices and appendices.
Teaching Resources
The reproduction of the manuscript that students will work on will be made available during the lesson.
Assessment methods and Criteria
Students participation and progress in the assigned work are monitored.
The final result of workshop is given as Approved or Not Approved.
