Learning objectives
The course offers some general lines of the history of communication in ancient, medieval and modern era in its political, social and cultural aspects, and the conceptual tools needed to understand the different forms and modes that characterised communication in different historical periods.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will have acquired knowledge and critical skills to grasp the specificities of the modes of communication expressed by societies in ancient, medieval and modern era. He/she will also be able to place the forms of communication in different chronological and geographical contexts. The student will be able to use linguistic tools (property of language, correct specific vocabulary) adequate to express, in a clear and effective form, concepts linked to the multiple fields of communication, such as political, social and cultural. These skills will be acquired through direct and continuous discussion with the lecturer in the classroom; discussion of the proposed studies will also constitute a moment of critical reflection and methodological learning. Non-attending students will be able to use the didactic tools available on "MyAriel" University of Milan webpage and to deepen their knowledge of the main topics through readings suggested by the professor and by dialoguing with him both via email and during office hours.
