Learning objectives
The course is intended for students with a knowledge of the Chinese language acquired during four years of university studies and aims to improve their capacity of verbal and written communication in proper Chinese, by exercises, of speeches, of communication, and of composition, consolidating the Chinese grammar and providing the knowledge of the figures of speech and various types of fix expressions.
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the students will be able to listen and understand Chinese newspaper articles without difficulties, to express properly opinions, both verbal and written, to reach the requirements of the proficiency test HSK livel 5 (C1).

Course syllabus
The course aims to improve the ability to read, analyze and understand commercial texts in Chinese at an advanced level; to strengthen the ability to write documents in Chinese, such as filling out CVs and correspondence; to broaden the ability to articulate analyzes and oral comments on events or readings.
The 60 hours of lectures by the course teachers will be accompanied by 60 hours of Chinese language exercises.
The teaching materials, chosen and indicated by the teachers during the lessons, will be published on the University's ARIEL platform.
Prerequisites for admission
In order to attend this course, students must have passed the exam of Chinese language 1 LIN.
Teaching methods
Lectures will be both frontal and interactive, with student presentations and class discussions on specific topics.
In addition, multimedia materials will be carefully selected and presented to deepen understanding of the topics covered. Seminars and conferences with prominent figures in the Chinese cultural world will also be organized.
Participation in activities and events is considered an integral part of the study program.
News and updates on events, classes and materials will be available on the ARIEL platform.

Assessment methods and Criteria
The exam consists of a written test and an oral test, both of which are compulsory.
The results obtained in the written exam, in the oral exam and in the oral presentations in class equally concur to the final evaluation. Non-attending students must produce an alternative paper, consisting of a Powerpoint presentation of business Chinese, consisting of 5 slides with voice / video. Each slide must have a title and contain 3 sentences in Chinese.

The written test for Italian students and for Chinese students who have obtained a three-year degree in Italy includes:
1) Write an illustrative text of 450-500 characters, on a theme of your choice
2) Write a letter of 450-500 characters, using the words indicated by the teacher.

The oral discussion for Italian students and for Chinese students who have obtained a three-year degree in Italy will be divided into two parts:
1) Discuss a theme chosen by the teacher between two possible themes discussed in class
2) Discuss a topic chosen by the student, on contemporary Chinese art / society / economy / politics, to be exhibited in 3 min. about

The written test for Chinese students who have not completed a three-year degree in Italy includes:
- translation from Chinese into Italian of an excerpt from textbooks;
- translation from Italian into Chinese of part of a newspaper article.
The oral discussion for Chinese students who have not completed a bachelor's degree in Italy includes only an interview with the Italian teacher: the candidate will be asked to translate some passages from the texts adopted into Italian, answering questions in Italian about the contents of the passages, and possibly in the translation into Chinese of texts taken from the teaching materials.

The written test is the same for both students who have attended and those who have not attended lessons and so is the oral exam. The only difference will be the higher number of questions asked to the students who did not participate in classes.
