Corso integrato di patologia diagnostica e trattamento medico e chirurgico del segmento posteriore
A.Y. 2025/2026
Learning objectives
The Integrated Course aims to provide students with theoretical, technical, and applied knowledge for the diagnostic workup and therapeutic management of major posterior segment diseases. The program explores anatomical, functional, and pathophysiological aspects of the retina and vitreous, functional and imaging-based diagnostic pathways, medical and surgical treatment strategies, with special emphasis on the role of advanced imaging and functional assessment techniques. The course fosters an integrated and interdisciplinary perspective on the care of patients with retinal and vitreous diseases, promoting an active role of the healthcare professional in the technical-clinical management and care processes.
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of the Integrated Course, students will be able to:
Understand the anatomy, pathophysiology, and clinical features of major posterior segment diseases.
Perform, document, and interpret advanced functional and retinal imaging tests.
Know the principles and indications of key medical, laser, and surgical treatments for the posterior segment.
Integrate clinical, functional, and imaging data in the assessment of patients with retinal and vitreous diseases.
Collaborate effectively with the ophthalmology team in diagnostic, therapeutic, and follow-up pathways.
Contribute to the functional and morphological monitoring and to improving patients' quality of life.
